Rocket Ronnie Reaches 1,000 Centuries

Ronnie O’Sullivan hits a new milestone.

Ronnie ‘The Rocket’ O’Sullivan became the first player in snooker history to make 1,000 century breaks when he defended his Coral Players Championship title.

O’Sullivan started the competition with 994 career centuries and started off his chase for the 1,000^th strongly with a 101 break against Barry Hawkins in the opening frame of the first round match-up.

Another two 100 point breaks followed quickly when he took on the Scotsman, John Higgins in a 6-4 win. The Rocket then failed to hit another in a strong performance against Mark Allen in the semi-final.

Going into the final, Ronnie needed 3 more century breaks to once again leave his mark in the history of the snooker. Two centuries came his way in before the mid-session interval, where he lead Neil Robertson 9-4 at the break, with one chance left to make his 1,000^th century on the day.

As if any one doubted he could do it, Ronnie shows us all again why he deserves to be crowned the best player of all time. In securing his 35^th career ranking title, the talisman ended the final in style, teasing his spectators with a pause whilst on 99, and going on to pot his next red left-handed. Ronnie finished the frame on 134 after sinking the white to deny a 141 finish.

Ronnie O’Sullivan now boasts 1,000 career centuries and 13 maximum breaks, leading the previous holder, Stephen Hendry by 225 centuries and 2 maximum breaks. Unprecedented.
